The Early Years
Edward Estlin Cummings was born on October 14, 1894, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He was the son of a Harvard professor and a painter. Cummings was a sickly child and spent much of his early years in bed. As a result, he developed a strong imagination and a love of literature.
