In 1981, Vacchiano joined the New York Philharmonic as principal trumpet, a position he held for over three decades. During his tenure with the orchestra, he performed under the baton of renowned conductors such as Leonard Bernstein, Zubin Mehta, and Kurt Masur. Vacchiano's exceptional playing and musical sensitivity earned him widespread recognition and acclaim.
